Galen Jiang recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton summa cum laudewith a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Galen has a passion for the aerospace industry and has completed an internship with Arconic, a leading metals manufacturing company. She completed research in additive manufacturing with an emphasis in solar technology and has published a paper through ASME. Galen serves as the student vice president of ASME at CSUF and helps students pursue their academic and professional goals by leading industry tours, development workshops, and tutoring.
She brings her view of the world as a high-performing student to BRDG’s board. Galen believes that mentorships between successful professionals and the next generation not only prepares the latter for their pursuits in industry, but also provides guidance for their personal development. This is especially important for students who are still learning about what kind of fields they want to explore as it helps shape and expand the scope of their future goals.
Galen asserts that one method for evaluating BRDG's success is how many participants attain positions in their fields. Additionally, it would be nice if former mentees continue to their engagement with the BRDG program after they start their careers. Finally, she hopes to see growth in the number of participants for both the students and professionals in an increasing number of engineering disciplines.
